Contraindications for Meditation

Meditation training is a prolonged mental process that can cause adverse effects in some people. Due to the depth and duration of our meditation periods and for their safety, those who should not attend our meditation events are those who:

  • are in acute stress following a recent trauma

  • have a history of self-harm and suicidal ideation

  • have a history or are at risk of psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder

  • have untreated PTSD

  • are prone to episodes of depression or have unmanaged depression

Also, those with unmanaged ADHD (predominantly hyperactive) will find our type of meditation practice extremely challenging due to the long periods of silence while remaining seated without fidgeting. If you have ADHD and are considering attending an event, please check out one of the FREE guided meditation programs to see how it feels first.
